Stained Glass in Jacksonville

I have always been fascinated with stained glass. I think I was hooked on it as early as second grade, when my teacher had a bag full of “counting stones” that her students could play with during free time. Those “stones” were basically just solidified drops of colored glass that came in every shade you can think of; very similar to the glass pebbles that a lot of people use in vases to anchor flower arrangements. I organized those stones into pictures, patterns and other designs for hours that year. I don’t think I ever used them to practice counting.

I also loved stained glass windows. We even had a couple in our house because mom’s old player piano had small red and orange stained glass doors that covered cavity for the piano rolls. I still love colored glass windows. In fact, if I could choose one place to revisit in Prague, it would be St. Vitas Cathedral because of the detailed, brilliantly-lit windows placed in its walls.

I still love colored glass, but I haven’t had a chance to learn the art myself yet. However, I recently learned that t Jacksonville Art and Glass, in Illinois, offers stained glass, mosaic, and jewelry classes. I’m not sure I’m that interested in the mosaic classes, but both the window and the art classes sound really fun.

If you aren’t aspiring to become an artist in the field though, and you still want to enjoy the beautiful workmanship of Jacksonville stained glass, you’ll be glad to know that they will ship their products to any state in the U.S.

Whether you want to help your kids foster creativity, use glass beads in your jewelry, buy a glass stained window or learn a new skill, Jacksonville Art and Glass can probably meet your needs. Add a little color in your life and have more fun during the process.
