How to Get Rid of Head Lice
A recent study regarding children and head lice has shown that more than half of the children who contracted head lice did so either at day care or at school. So for some, the simplest solution might be to home school your kids where the chances of contraction are minimal, but for most that idea is about as practical taking the sheers to your child’s head, and ridding him of the pests the old fashioned way.
The question of how to get rid of head lice has sparked a fair amount of debate, as some argue that head lice are, to some degree, immune to many popular over-the-counter chemicals and believe that home remedies, such as olive oil or mayonnaise, may be the best solution. Other interesting treatments include: baby oil, vinegar, crème rinse, pet shampoo, and tea tree oil - at the very least these will give your child an interesting smell.
One of the biggest causes for concern lately is that the FDA has reported that many over-the-counter insecticide products may be harmful when used on small children. Now, I don’t know what the technical definition of “small children” is, but it’s safe to say that many children afflicted with head lice fit into that category and therefore warrant the question, “Could this be harmful to my child?”
